Lemuria project was born on 2006 from the designer's Susanna Gioia creative mind and her will to look at the dress from a different perspective.
She thought of creating dresses not only to satisfy fashion and glamour requests, but mainly to add funcionality and pliability to them. From this concept the full LIBERO ARBITRIO collection: a range of multi-shape dresses which can be modelled in many different ways.
Lemuria gets inspiration from the observation of modern, as well as ancient, human beings with the aim of finding a "continuum" inside men's soul that lives beyond ages and society changes. For this reason Lemuria dresses are timeless dresses, which easly adapt to and overtake momentary trends, developping on those who wear them an emotional reaction that makes them feel unique.
Lemuria surprises every time and the "wow effect" is always assured thanks to the many different wearing options that each single dress can adopt and which make it adaptable to every occasion.
The dress becomes a real game, an occasion to express and experiment your own unique taste.
Lemuria is produced by the family runned company "Confezioni Gioia" owned by Susanna Gioia's family. It has more than 30 years experience on the fashion market, producing since 1975 for big Italian brands such as: Ellesse , Errico Coveri, Moschino, Armani , Valentino, Dolce e Gabbana, Versace , Bluemarine, Fabiana Filippi and many others.
"Confezioni Gioia" has always been synonymous of high quality and professionality, famously skilled on jersey and stretching fabrics manifacturing and tailoring.
Lemuria project comes from the conjugation of Susanna creativity and her family experience, having on this way the full control on the whole production process, up to the product delivery.

Each dress packaging contains a DVD with transformations' videos of the full collection.

Why "Lemuria"?
Lemuria is a lost continent, a forgotten civilisation..it is the very beginning of all histories.
In this faraway time, human beings were enormous ethereal ghosts who, through the psiche and the millenniums passing by, condensed their physical bodies and materialized.
They created in this way the first human body shape which will then evolve in the following ages.
Lemuria is a myth of creation, a back in the past and mysterious story that is today inspiring us on our research through the depth of shapes.

SS11 COLLECTION

Lemuria lines, thanks to its big versatility, could be defined at the same time: "ALL, and the opposite of ALL" as each dress, apparently minimal, can transform in a twinkling on a Baroque style.
This peculiarity makes Lemuria dresses real chameleons, which can adapt very easily to different moods and occasions.

For Summer 2011 Lemuria looks at the light and the colour, presenting a rich and lively collection.
By using selected materials like steel metal and special fabric treatments for a sheen effect, we tried to catch the light through its reflection towards the dress.
By a refined and well studied use of print on summers colours like white and salmon rose, we wanted to enhance the "transformation game".

Fabrics and materials

The bi-elastic cotton jersey is, as always, on the background of the whole collection, which has been now set against the stiffness and the brightness of the metal (steel) fibre cloth.
The same lightness that we found on the viscose and silk fabric used for the double-face bicolour dresses, so light and functional.

Il progetto Lemuria nasce nel 2006 dalla creatività della designer umbra Susanna Gioia che decide di osservare l'abito da una nuova angolazione.
Un abito pensato non soltanto dal punto di vista della moda e del glamour, ma con importanti elementi di funzionalità e vestibilità; da qui nasce LIBERO ARBITRIO: prototipi originali e sperimentali in grado di trasformarsi intorno al corpo, creando molte forme-modelli differenti, stimolando la creatività di chi li indossa.
Lemuria trae la sua ispirazione dall'osservazione degli uomini di oggi e di ieri, ricercando un "continuum" nell'animo umano che va oltre le epoche e le società che cambiano. Per questo gli abiti sono senza tempo, in grado cioè di adattarsi alle mode del momento, di superarle e di sopravvivere ad esse, riuscendo a sviluppare nell'individuo che li indossa un moto emozionale come valido strumento di differenziazione.
Un abito in grado di stupire ogni volta, grazie alle sue innumerevoli trasformazioni che lo rendono adattabile ad ogni situazione.
L'abito diventa un vero e proprio gioco, un'occasione per sperimentare liberamente il proprio gusto.

Lemuria è prodotta dall'azienda di famiglia della stilista Susanna Gioia "Confezioni Gioia" che annovera un'esperienza trentennale nel settore della produzione conto terzi.
"Confezioni Gioia" è da 35 anni sinonimo di qualità, altamente specializzata nella lavorazione del jersey e dei tessuti elastici. In attività dal 1975 ha lavorato per : Ellesse , Errico Coveri, Moschino, Armani , Valentino, Dolce e Gabbana, Versace , Bluemarine, Fabiana Filippi e molti altri.
Dall'unione tra la creatività di Susanna e l'esperienza della sua famiglia nasce il progetto Lemuria, che ha in questo modo, un controllo diretto di tutta la filiera sino al prodotto finito.

Perchè Lemuria?

Lemuria è un continente perduto,una civiltà dimenticata ... è l'inizio di tutte le storie.
In questo tempo lontano gli esseri umani erano enormi fantasmi eterici che attraverso la psiche e lo scorrere dei millenni, condensarono il corpo fisico e lo portarono in essere.

Crearono così la forma del corpo umano destinata ad evolvere nelle ere che seguirono.
Lemuria è un mito di creazione, una storia lontana e misteriosa che continua ad ispirarci nella nostra ricerca della profondità delle forme.

Collezione PE11

Le linee Lemuria, grazie all'estrema versatilità, possono essere definite come "tutto ed il contrario di tutto"; un abito all'apparenza minimale può infatti trasformarsi in un attimo in una forma dall'aspetto Barocco.
Tutto ciò rende i capi Lemuria dei veri e propri camaleonti, pronti ad adattarsi ad ogni momento ed ad ogni circostanza.

Per l'Estate 2011 Lemuria getta uno sguardo sulla luce e sul colore, proponendo una collezione ricca e movimentata.
Attraverso l'uso di materiali come l'acciaio e trattamenti di spalmatura si cerca di catturare la luce attraverso il suo riflesso contro l'abito.
L'uso della stampa su colori prettamente estivi quali il bianco ed il rosa salmone movimenta invece ancora di più il gioco della trasformazione.

Materiali

Come sempre il jersey di cotone bi-elastico fa da sfondo e da costante all'interno del campionario.
A questo abbiamo poi contrapposto la rigidità e la lucentezza del panno in fibra d'acciaio.
La stessa lucentezza che ritroviamo poi nella viscosa e seta utilizzata per realizzare abiti double-face bicolori, leggeri e funzionali.
